14/07/09: elliptic curve encryption -also used within cryptosms.org- has been successfully broken for keys up to 112 bits with parallel computing of more than 200 PS3s (see http://lacal.epfl.ch/page81774.html). In the latest design of the attack it would have taken 3,5 months of calculating (in real it took longer). cryptosms.org is using a 192 byte key - a size still considered secure. nonetheless, we are considerung bigger keys for future releases.

29/05/07: with the latest release, the issue we faced with all sony ericsson mobiles seems to be fixed. Incoming crypted sms will now start CryptoSMS. Before, they went straight into the plaintext sms inbox if cryptosms was not running. Now a message pops up and asks to start cryptosms when a new crypted sms has arrived.
